Sam joined Sense about Science in April 2020 as a campaigns and research officer and quickly embarked on assessing the transparency of UK Government Coronavirus policies. A data science policy enthusiast, Sam is also working on our Responsible Handover campaign and associated research projects into quality in data science.
Sam studied History at the University of Bristol before doing a masters at LSE specialising in platform governance, the study of governing major platforms like Facebook and Google, and targeted advertising. He wrote his dissertation on the transparency of the Facebook Political Advertising Library. Sam is particularly interested in the subjects of networked technologies and climate change and works and writes with a large number of activist circles.
